Abuja: At least seven people were killed and dozens were injured in Nigeria's capital Abuja on Saturday after thousands of panicked job-seekers stampeded during a government recruitment drive at the national stadium.

Some 25, 000 applicants were scheduled to participate in the NIS job recruitment interview holding at the 16, 000 capacity Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Four Nigerian men were beaten and flogged for being gay by an Islamic court in the northern city of Bauchi, according to the Liberty Voice .
