Gunmen killed 30 people in a village in central Nigeria on Monday, officials said, in a religiously-mixed region with a long history of ethnic and communal violence.

Foreign shop owners - mainly Chinese and Nigerian nationals - say Zimbabwean authorities have reversed an ultimatum for them to close their businesses by 1 January.

Security agencies are probing former President Olusegun Obasanjo's claim that about 1,000 Nigerians have been placed under watch by the Federal Government, as reported in a national newspaper today.

The Nigerian film scene, known as Nollywood, is continually expanding - with over 500 films being created each year in the city of Lagos alone.

About 1,277 Nigerians have been evacuated from crisis-ridden Central African Republic since the airlift began on Friday.

At least five persons were feared killed yesterday when violence broke out between the indigenous people of Marwa chiefdom and Fulani herdsmen in Kaura local government of Kaduna State.

President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, stoked his campaign against perceived enemies of the country, saying that Nigeria "must be liberated from evil people".
